About Us

Schubertiades originated as informal concerts held in homes or salons of Franz Schubert’s admirers and circle of friends, including artists, poets, singers, intellectuals and patrons. During his lifetime, Schubert's music was only appreciated by a close circle of friends and patrons. A evening of Schubertiade typically included songs, chamber music, poetry reading, socially and dancing.

Schubertiade Salon Series aims to continue the spirit of these original musical gatherings by presenting Schubert's music in a more informal, salon-like setting in the chancel of the beautiful Christ Church Cathedral in Downtown Vancouver.
