From Song to Virtuosic Finale — “Trockne Blumen” Variations

Our opening concert comes full circle with Schubert’s dazzling “Trockne Blumen” Variations for flute and piano.

We begin with Lieder von Natur, a set of five art songs that invites us into Schubert’s poetic world. We conclude with a brilliant, virtuosic transformation of one of those very songs, “Trockne Blumen” from Die schöne Müllerin. Its poignant melody becomes the inspiration for a sparkling series of variations, showcasing the flute’s expressive beauty and dazzling agility.

From intimate song to exuberant virtuosity, this musical journey reveals another facet of Schubert’s extraordinary imagination.

Join Heather Beaty (flute) and Ronald Sat (piano) as they bring our opening Schubertiade, just 2 weeks from today, to a thrilling close!
