
Cellist Helena Jung has enjoyed a rich and varied musical journey as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and teacher. Born in Korea, she earned her BMus and MMus in Seoul and performed with ensembles such as the Jeunesses Musical World Orchestra, the Seoul Youth Philharmonic, and the Gyeonggi Provincial Philharmonic Orchestra as principal cellist. Since moving to Canada, Helena has been featured at Concerts Denman, the Quadra Chamber Music Festival, and CYMC. She founded the recital series “Cellobration” and her student concerts “Hello, Cello!” in 2007, and later co-founded Hello Strings, a community program for string players. From 2018–2025, she served as Music Director of the Strathcona Symphony Orchestra. She also performs as a substitute cellist with the Vancouver Island Symphony and the Victoria Symphony.
